Since retiring from his position as publisher of TH Media and the Telegraph Herald in January 2024, Bob Woodward became Director of Journalism, Philanthropy and College Student Partnerships.
Bob spoke to us about the changing media landscape. In years past, newspapers generated most their revenue from ads. In today's world 70% of ad spending goes to digital venues like Google, Facebook and Amazon. To fill that void, newspapers who value quality local news now turn to philanthropy to be able to hire top-notch reporters.
Woodward and his cousin have established Local Journalism Support Fund. Working with the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, they accept tax-deductible donations to maintain the important public service of local news reporting.
