The Educators Rising Chapter was a new chapter to Platteville High School two years ago and it's grown to 37 members today. Mr. Brad Brogley, Director of Continuous Improvement for the Platteville School District, is the advisor for the chapter and was instrumental in starting the organization. Mr. Brogley shared that there are currently 55,000 vacant teaching position nationally. In addition, there are 270,000 underqualified individuals in teaching positions. In Wisconsin, we have 2,565 teacher vacancies and 40% of teachers are leaving the field for other careers within six years. Special education teachers is experiencing the largest shortage and is currently the area with the highest need for qualified teachers. Seth Wilson (Chapter President) and Natalie Jentz (Chapter Secretary and one of six Educators Rising Chapter State Ambassadors) spoke about various events and work the chapter does for the school district, staff in the district and youth in the Platteville community. It's evident that this chapter and their leaders are working hard to promote careers in education.
