May is Law Enforcement Appreciation month. Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe. In keeping with the theme of honoring our local law enforcement, Maxine Lane invited Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman and Captain Craig Reukauf, Jail Administer to speak to our Club. Sheriff Dreckman spoke to us about the recruitment and retention of law enforcement personnel. Captain Reukauf, who has been in law enforcement for 26 years, talked about how the type of inmates in jail has changed over the years. The rise in use of Methamphetamines and the number of inmates dealing with mental health issues has presented additional challenges at the jail.
